Caramelized Onions

Caramelized onions are a great addition to any cheese board.  It’s so easy to cook them in the Thermomix that you can just make up a batch any time you need them.

Makes ~1/2 cup

Caramelized OnionIngredients

200g red onion, peeled, quartered and cut into 0.5cm slices

1 clove garlic, peeled

10g light olive oil

5g soy sauce

15g balsamic vinegar

20g sugar

Instructions

1. Add garlic to the Thermomix bowl and chop for 3 seconds/Speed 7

2. Scrape down the sides of the bowl, add onions and oil and cook with the measuring cup (MC) off for 5 minutes/Varoma/Reverse/Speed soft

3. Scrape down the sides of the bowl, add soy sauce, vinegar and sugar and cook with the MC off for 15 minutes/100C/Reverse/Speed soft

4. Leave to cool before serving

    Did try a chilli jam once, but didn’t have enough sugar so it ended up being more of a chilli sauce!
