Basics: Chicken Mince

Mince is essentially meat that has been chopped finely with a knife or a meat grinder.  It’s often made from trimmings or less popular cuts of meat, as such, it often gets a bad rap as a food product.  However, mince is such a versatile ingredient in cooking.  It’s easy to cook with and  can be used in so many recipes.  There’s obvious dishes like meatballs, tacos, pies, meatloaf, bolognese and burgers – but you also find mince in spring rolls, dumplings, sausage rolls and koftas.  

The Thermomix allows you to mince your own meat.  Making mince this way means that you can control the quality of what’s included.  With this recipe, we’re making chicken mince – but the same principles work for other meat too.  You can make this with chicken breast

Chicken Mince

Ever wonder what goes into store-bought chicken mince? Control what goes into your chicken mince by making it in the Thermomix.

Ingredients
  

  • 600 g chicken cut into 3-3.5cm pieces

Instructions
 

  • Put chicken pieces into the freezer for 30 minutes
  • Put the chicken into the Thermomix bowl and close the lid with the measuring cup on
  • Press and hold Turbo for 1 second
  • Repeat Step 3 two more times (for a total of 3 seconds)
