Caramelized Onions

The Thermomix lets you make small batches of caramelized onions when you need them. Skip the stirring and jazz up your next cheeseboard or sandwich.

Servings 0.5 cups (approx)

Ingredients
  

  • 200 g red onion peeled, quartered and cut into 0.5cm slices
  • 1 clove garlic peeled
  • 10 g light olive oil
  • 5 g soy sauce
  • 15 g balsamic vinegar
  • 20 g sugar

Instructions
 

  • Add garlic to the Thermomix bowl and chop for 3 seconds | Speed 7
  • Scrape down the sides of the bowl, add onions and oil and cook with the measuring cup (MC) off for 5 minutes | Varoma | Reverse | Speed soft
  • Scrape down the sides of the bowl, add soy sauce, vinegar and sugar and cook with the MC off for 15 minutes | 100C | Reverse | Speed soft
  • Leave to cool before serving
