Mushrooms on Toast

Mushrooms on toast is a classic breakfast dish.  Mushrooms have a ‘meatiness’ about them that makes them feel a bit more substantial than most vegetables.  Yes, sautéing mushrooms is something that can easily be done in a frying pan on the stove, but since I have a Thermomix, I had to give it a go.  This recipe is the result.

While the dish is designed for quick and easy breakfasts, there are plenty of ways to jazz it up – like using different types of mushrooms, adding some fresh herbs, or topping it with an egg or crumbled goats cheese.

Mushrooms on Toast

A popular cafe dish, this mushrooms on toast recipe is exactly what it says on the package. Garlic and shallots give the mushrooms another dimension. I've used the Thermomix to cook the mushrooms, but this can easily be done on the stove in a frying pan.
